Creating a Database for Volunteer Opportunities

After family separations of recent migrants in July, one Aliento student was affected at a personal level and decided to take it upon themselves to organize a way to help those affected. After finding out a nearby non-profit organization was housing some of the children affected, the Aliento student organized a Toy Drive among the Encino, West LA, and Irvine Pepperdine Graduate campuses with hopes of obtaining and delivering enough toys for the roughly 60 children housed.

The Aliento student has asked to remain anonymous as they do not want their identity or efforts to be public. However, when asked how other students can help, the Aliento student wanted to emphasize that there are many volunteer opportunities in the community and area waiting for volunteers willing to donate their time and/or resources.

If you currently know of an organization looking for volunteers, we invite you to share more information about the organization and type of volunteer work needed at the following link: https://pepperdinegsep.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9QS50Cq8dTpnTzD

This database will be the start of a collection of volunteer opportunities we hope to provide Aliento students in future e-updates and beyond. Be on the look-out for this database soon!
